Update on 4 April 2016
The markets have changed slightly. In Nairobi, a 90kg bag now goes for Kshs. 2,700 up from Kshs. 2,500.
In Mombasa, there is a drop from Kshs. 2,700 to Ksh. 2,450. These changes will continue to be witnessed as we approach June.
The maize prices in Kenya as at 4 at April 2016 are as follows
- Nairobi- Kshs. 2,700.
- Mombasa- Kshs. 2,450.
- Kisumu - Kshs. 3,200.
- Eldoret- Kshs. 2,500.
The price has remained stable only in Kisumu. In Eldoret, the price has shot up from Kshs. 2,200 that was prevailing in March to now Kshs. 2,500.
In
June, the highest prices will be witnessed (Based on past experiences
in the maize market). The prices will then drop thereafter as the
harvesting seasons starts to kick in in counties in the South Rift
(Narok to be precise).
Green Maize (4 April 2016)
As at 4 April 2016, the prices of green maize are as follows;
- Nairobi: Kshs. 2,250
- Mombasa: Kshs. 5,600
- Kisumu: Kshs. 2,400
- Eldoret: Kshs. 1,800
