The Treasury has proposed to provide funds for recruitment of more teachers in the 2016/2017 financial year.
The National Assembly has approved the proposal.
The proposal is still at its formative stages.
The proposal states states that there will be recruitment of more teachers and TVET lectures in the coming financial year.
In the current financial year,  the Treasury availed funds for recruitment of 5,000 extra teachers. The proposal was implemented in sometime in 2015 (For the exact date, look through the recap of the 2015 recruitment under the article entitled " TSC recruitment 2016").
As stated above, the proposal has just gone through the National Assembly. The proposal was approved by the Parliament on 3 March 2016.
The proposal will be taken back to the Treasury for finalization. Therefore, by May/July 2016, the number of those to be recruited will be known. For now,  the number is not known because the proposal is still being worked on. The cost of implenting the proposal shall also be known around the May/July 2016.
The proposal is part of a raft of measures that the Government is planning to fund in the coming financial year in the education sector.
***The proposal shall be effected anytime after August 2016.
Pesa Mashinani estimates that the proposal will be implemented at a cost of about Kshs. 2.3 - 2.4 billion.
