Pesa Mashinani: TSC Job Group K Gross Salary

Inclusion of allowances in the teachers pay structure introduces significant variations in the total pay from one region to another.

According to documents presented to the President, the new TSC Job Group K Gross Salary under the 50-60% is highest in Nairobi followed by places under cluster 1.

The 50-60% gross salary is hereby presented per region. *The document presented to the president was prepared using house allowances and commuter allowances only. Therefore, the gross salary will be higher than these figures for any given region once all other allowances are included.

*The gross salary has been computed by using the new allowances rate that are being implemented at Kshs. 9.3 billion.

Nairobi: In Nairobi, the new minimum gross salary for a teacher in job group K is Kshs. 69,891 while the maximum is Kshs. 86,380. Before the implementation of the new (Kshs. 9.3 billion) allowances, MoEST had provided the minimum gross salary to be Kshs. 63,391 while the maximum to be Kshs. 79,880.

Cluster 1: In Mombasa, Kisumu, Malindi, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and Naivasha, the minimum and the maximum gross salary is Kshs. 66,191 and Kshs. 82,680 respectively.

Cluster 2: In Nyeri, Eldoret, Kericho, Embu, Kakamega, Kisii, Nanyuki, Garissa, Lodwar (Turkana) and Nakuru, the new minimum and maximum gross salary is Kshs. 62,991 and Kshs. 79,480 respectively.
