Tea Bonus 2015 Kenya

The prolonged drought early this year is one of the reason that has been cited as a cause of improved prices. The bonus prices are below average in one of the leading counties in tea production.

The Tea bonus 2015 Kenya will see Kericho, Kisii and Bomet receiving the lowest prices per kilo. This has been an issue over the years. The bonus will be paid in October.

The factory that will receive the lowest bonus price per kilo is Sanganyi tea factory. The factory that will receive the highest bonus per Kilo is Imenti tea factory. The average bonus price in the October 2015 bonus is Kshs. 27.61. Therefore, look at whether your factory’s bonus price is lower or higher than the bonus price. As stated above, most factories in Kericho, Bomet and Kisii region will receive bonus that is lower than Kshs. 27.61.

County Governments Versus KTDA

Kericho County has taken issue with the low bonus prices that are always extended to farmers in the County. The Kericho County has already sued KTDA for double taxation of tea farmers in the county. The low bonus prices are likely to catalyze the dry and bitter dispute between Kericho County and the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA).
