Assistants. For research assistants in government institutions such as KEMRI,
KIPPRA, KARI, Kenya Dairy Board and KEFRI, their gigantic income comes from per diems. The per
diem vary based on location of the research. In most towns, the per diem plus
the professional fee is at least KShs. 4,500 per day. The per diems are highest
in Mombasa, Garissa, Kwale, Kilifi, Nakuru. The per diems are lowest in
Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado and Machakos. In Mombasa, Garissa, Kwale and Kilifi
the per diem alone is at least KShs. 8,000 per day.
If
you graduate at the age of 23 or 24 and you secure any of the jobs we have
stated above then you are going be a millionaire in 12 months. The remuneration
of these jobs is not a reflection of how a graduate can easily secure the job.
