For counties where the single business permit is very high, you will find that there are many other charges that significantly eroded finances of business people at county level.

We have gathered and analyzed data on single business permits that are charged on medium size retailers. We are using the rates for the medium size retailers because most of the county taxes are way higher than what the medium size retailers are paying.

Counties with high taxes
The counties that charge the highest for a Single Business Permit (S.B.P) are as follows. The charges for a single business permit are shown in bracket.

Busia County. ( KShs. 15,500).
Kakamega County. (KSh 15,000).
Kiambu County. (KShs.12,000).
Nakuru County. (KShs.12,000).
Kisii County. (KShs.10,000).
Bomet County. (KShs.10,000).

The county taxes in the above six counties have a significant potential of slowing down businesses and also scaring away investors. Small investors are also highly impacted by the above county taxes. The youth and the women who carry out various business activities in these towns are known to be going through tough times as they are not in a position to pay the county levies/ taxes.
