House allowance for Job Group R

Civil servants who are at the brink of being promoted into the lofty ranks of public service have a reason to smile. In tandem with the tightening noose of the Kenyan economy, job group R house allowance has been increased by 25% in Nairobi and 75% in Mombasa, Kisumu, malindi, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and Naivasha.


House allowance in Nairobi
House allowance for job group R has been increased from KSh. 40,000 to Ksh. 50,000 per month for Kenya civil servants working in Nairobi. This new rate represents a 25% increase in house allowance.


House allowance in County Headquarters
Civil servants in Job group R in the towns of Mombasa, Kisumu, Malindi, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and Naivasha will earn a housing allowance of Ksh. 35,000 per month. Previously, civil servants in this job group and in these towns earned a house allowance of KSh. 20,000. This new rate represents a 75% increase in the house allowance.

Civil servants in Job group R in the towns of Nyeri, Eldoret, Kericho, Kakamega, Kisii, Embu, Nanyuki, Nakuru, Lodwar and Garissa will earn a house allowance of KSh. 25,000 per month. Previously, civil servants in this group earned a house allowance of KSh. 15,000. This represents a 67% rise in the house allowance.

House Allowance in Other Areas

Civil servants in job group R in other county headquarters and other areas will earn a house allowance of Ksh. 20,000 per month. Previously, the civil servants in this job group earned a house allowance of KSh. 12,000. This represents a 67% increase in the house allowance.


Remarks
Civil servants in Job group R in the towns of Mombasa, Kisumu, Malindi, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and Naivasha are the one who will record a substantial rise in their house allowances. In these towns, the house allowance has been increased by eleven thousand Kenya Shillings (Ksh.11,000).
