The annual delegates conference was held today. The union officials continued to decry the involvement of the SRC in the determination of salaries of teachers.
The SRC's involvement took centre stage at the KUPPET ADC meeting today. The SRC commission has become a big headache to the unions; surpassing the basic salary issue.
KUPPET's Milemba said, "We stand firm that SRC [does] not have the mandate to get involved in negotiations between teachers and their employer."
Akello on his part called upon the removal of SRC from the Constitution.
Akello further called upon TSC to confirm the relief teachers on permanent terms.
Akello said, "We must re-look the role of SRC and its advisory mandate. We will not spare any effort to ensure that SRC is sent home and removed from the Constitution."
