TSC County Merit List 2015/2016

The ongoing recruitment of teachers is being used by the Teachers Service Commission to come up with a bank of names to be used in recruitment exercises in this financial year.

If you are a qualified but unemployed teacher and you have been applying for teaching jobs with no success then do not lose hope. The TSC County merit list 2015/2016 could be your source of hope. So, apply for a teaching vacancy in the ongoing July recruitment. The dateline is on 31^st July 2015.

Please note that once the July recruitment exercise is over, TSC will stick to
the July 2015 merit list up to the end of the financial year (i.e June 2016). That is, if you fail to apply in the current recruitment then you are going to wait upto June 2016 for you to have your name in the county merit list.

How to have your name in the county merit list

You are allowed to apply only for only one vacancy in a given county within a given recruitment exercises.

So, for a teacher to have his or her name in the county merit list here is a guide.

A primary school teacher must send application to the county director in the county where a vacancy has been advertised.

A post primary teacher must apply to the institution where a vacancy has been advertised and submit a copy to the County Director of Education (CDE).

As seen above a primary school teacher only needs to apply to the CDE. A post primary school teacher (e.g Secondary school teacher) must apply to both the institution and the CDE.

Secondary teachers watch out

A secondary school teacher who has a subject combination with very low demand can spend years and years without getting a job. Therefore, an unemployed secondary school teacher must do thorough research on which county his/ her subject combination is in demand. In most counties, English/ Literature has the highest demand. In order to help secondary school teachers identify the counties where their subject combination has at least some demand, Pesa Mashinani is working on an article that will be up by tomorrow (20^th July 20150. The article depicts the demand of different subject combinations in each county.

The article will atleast help the secondary teachers because the applications will close on 31^st July 2015. That is, the application for entry in to a given county merit list will be over by 31^st July 2015. A new list will be made sometime in June 2016.
