Most Marketable Courses in Kenya

Here are the careers worth enrolling for. They are selling more than freshly baked cakes. These are the careers that if one misses to take then they are bound to go through the so called, “Hard economic times in the job market.”

Here is a list of the most marketable courses in Kenya based on job adverts that companies, NGOs,  the National Government and County Governments have been posting. This is based on job adverts and not on what the lay people are feeling as being the careers that are in demand.

1. Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)
This is one of the best courses in terms of its performance in the job market. This course is highly in demand. The jobs that persons with these qualifications are usually being called upon to apply are those of accountants and auditors. Just pick a daily; you will not miss a job posting calling for applicants with B. Com. In most case, a CPA/ ACCA is an added advantage. Proficiency in accounting/ ERP softwares such as Oracle is a big plus.

2. Bachelor of Commerce (Finance option)
This closely trails B. Com (Accounting). Those with a degree in this field are called upon in the job adverts to fill the posts of finance officers/ financial advisors. Those with a CPA are usually given a chance to apply for accountant's job.

Bachelor of Economics and Statistics tends to be in the same league as the two courses above. However, when economics is standing alone [Having not the statistics component], it does not make it to the league.

Stick to University of Nairobi *If you have the means,  try to enroll for any of the two courses above at the University of Nairobi. Try to stick to UON and you will tell a story of success at the end of the course.

University of Nairobi has a business school that has nurtured many successful people in the above two courses. In your own time,  search for,  "University of Nairobi lower Kabete Business School."

3. Human Resource
There are adverts for this course. However, this field is flooded with jobless graduates. Take this course with utmost discretion. The job adverts are there but the number of jobless graduates outnumber the sand grains of the ocean shore.

4. Bachelor Arts in Social Sciences
This course is popular with NGOs. Some of the courses that are in the same league as social work are; Developmental studies and public administration.

* Courses such as medicine,  dentistry,  pharmacy have been handled in a different article as they are courses in highly specialized fields.

Courses in Specialized Fields
There are courses in specialized fields such as medicine and engineering. The marketability of courses in the fields have been handled in different articles which you can find below.
