The final results of the mass exercise that ended on 15th march 2016 were finally released on 22 March 2016.
The just concluded IEBC voter registration exercise has resulted in CORD strongholds scooping a majority slots in the top 20 "best" performing counties in terms of the numbers of the newly registered voters.
Only five counties from Jubilee strongholds made it to the top 20. Tharaka Nithi itself is not anywhere close to the top 20.
No county registered over 150,000 new voters. The total number of new voters registered is 1,428,056.
The leading county is Nairobi where 134,670 new voters were registered.
In the neighbouring and densely populated county of Kiambu, 82,754 new voters were registered.
Nakuru takes the third position with 66,507 new voters while the fourth position is taken by Kisumu County with 59,611 new registered voters.
The densely populated county of Kakamega takes the fifth position with 59,611 new registered voters.
The top five counties outlined above have a combined total 401,939 newly registered voters. As indicated above, the total number of new voters registered during the just concluded exercise is 1,428,056. Therefore, the top five counties contributed a significant number of new voters leaving the other 40 counties to contribute only a combined total of 1,026,117 new voters.
The county that contributed the list number of new voters was Isiolo County.
North-eastern Kenya performed extremely poorly. Garissa, Wajir and Mandera all contributed only a total of 21,428.
In Rift Valley, the county that performed the worst is Elgeyo Marakwet. In Nyanza, Nyamira County performed poorly in the region.
