The payment of the Kenya civil servants house allowances has not been done in full as proposed by SRC. As a result, on Thursday October 2015, the Union of Kenya Civil Servants issued an ultimatum to the Government that the allowances ought to be paid in full by 30 October 2015.
The Civil servants have been questioning when the payment of their proposed allowances will be paid in full. The rates are well known but the implementation of the rates is dismal.
Under the proposed rates, civil servants in Job Group G are supposed to earn Kshs. 6,750 as house allowance in Nairobi. Those in Job Group K are supposed to earn Kshs. 16,500 in Nairobi and Kshs. 12,800 in the towns of Mombasa, Kisumu, Kilifi, Kwale and Lamu.
